July 27-28 2007: Clearlake, Camping, Konocti Harbor, and Bob Dylan

Athena and I were shocked to find out that there is an event facility on the back side of a beautiful lake called Clearlake that we have driven past many times on the 20 between the 5 and the 101.  Even more surprising was the big named acts who play there despite its size.  We found out just in time to get tickets to see Bob Dylan (ALWAYS a GREAT show!) on an Aerosmith/Bob Dylan weekend event!  We missed the Aerosmith (which we both would have enjoyed) but were in time and had money for Dylan tickets.  The resort at the lake was full and we love to camp anyway so we decided to find the closest and best camp we could and to spend the weekend there.

Making the easy dinner of Giant Hot Dogs our first night in camp.

Yep, they are bigger than bun-length.  :)

The kids do great when we camp.  Avi loves to get dirty and Mat is the best big brother!!

Avi will rip her shoes and socks off and loves to run around camp barefoot.  For those of you who know, she is a lot like her namesake.  She's a hard core little Aiel who is always ready for a drink of water.

Yay for camp doobies!!  No not boobies (unless they aren't mine)... Just because someone's a little fat from too much beer...  ;)

Goddess of Wisdom and War easily becomes Goddess of the Water.  :)

Haha!  Poor Mat is paranoid of water that has waves...

"Why is Mat crying at the water, Dad?"

Lets try it again.  Nothing to be scared of... Mom's got you.

"Are there monsters in the water or something, Dad?"

"Screw these arm floaties!  I don't trust them!"

"Take him out further Mom!  Lets break his fears down."

"Ok, as long as I have a hold of Mom, maybe this isn't so horrible."

Clowning for the family's entertainment.

Mat's turn.

The cutest females on the planet!!

These next pics are from the next day, July 28.  We decided to hit the lake before the concert.

Mat was much more ready for fun this time!

We played with this ball and with a water frisbee we have.

Let's wake up Avi and go see Bob Dylan!

Konocti Harbor.  A GREAT little place to see a show!

The parking lot and the lake behind it.

Bob Dylan and the boys put on a KILLER show the first time Athena and I saw them and are in great spirits and hoping for a repeat.  The lake is quite close behind the stage and those in the elevated seats got a great view of the scenery behind the band.

We were excited to see how small the venue was and how close we were to the action!  This one and the next are zoomed in some.  They kicked off the show just before sunset!

I was surprised to see him on the guitar and jamming like he was at his age.  The first time we saw him, he didn't play any guitar at all.

Here's the show with no focus so you can see where we were sitting.  And of course eyeballs focus so we could see better than this.  :)

This show we didn't get as many of the classics since he was touring a new album, but since we had owned the album for awhile and liked several of the songs on it, it was fine with us.

They made us get Mat a ticket, but we were having so much fun that the kids spent a good part of the show on our laps.  All the people at the show were super friendly and having a great time too.  One lady never stopped dancing up the isles and around all the seats in this cute, but crazy marching type dance to the music.  Old hippies everywhere...what a fun time!

They rocked through sunset, twilight, and into the night.  We were all having a ball!  Athena was able to capture these last few pictures before the flash got her busted by security so that's why the pictures didn't cover the whole event.

We had such a good time that we just hung around as people left (with a vague hope of seeing Dylan after the crowd disappeared).  What a great night!!

Both of the kids seemed to enjoy it as much as we did!

One of me telling Athena that the Rockin' Action was in the other direction!  Thanks for a great show Bobby Dyl (as we call him)!!

And there's no point just sitting in the car waiting for the parking lot to clear on such an awesome night!  Let's carry the celebration into the parking lot and make the waiting funner.  Haha, I almost forgot!  I got some old hippie high for the show.  He wasn't ready for my quality though, so I bet he had an adventurous show!  ;)  I didn't see him on the way out to ask...

Breakfast the next morning.

One last pic before we pack out to home.
