Nov 21-23, 2007: Thanksgiving Trip to Gold Beach, Oregon
After our first trip to Oregon we had decided we just had to get back and stay in Gold Beach again in the future. So we decided why not take Thanksgiving on the road! The first several are on the way North.
Popcorn and a show before bed our first night in.
The little river that flowed right behind our condo. Depending on tide it would flow out to or in from the ocean. Right past the road is another beach and then ocean.
Athena gets started nice and early on the Thanksgiving feast. This year we have realized that a turkey is far too large for our family so instead we got a chicken and cooked it with a beer up its keister. :) As usual we tried to go organic/healthy on the ingredients much of the time and as usual Athena had us on our way to a spread to remember!
Matrim did an excellent job helping out! He and Mom made the napkin holders, he helped in the kitchen, and he set the whole table!
Avi is the first to dig in. She got tired of seeing food being made for hours and it not be time to eat. ;)
This was another pretty killer place to stay. It had a loft setup like we have liked in the past along with all the amenities we desired. We had a hot-tub on the deck and we got to watch the sun set while relaxing in the tub. It was a very romantic setting after the kids went to bed. ;)
Here we decided to go out and do some hiking on our last day before we had to head back home. What a pretty day for the end of November!
We got a ways into the hike to find out that the path narrowed and became more difficult and we rough going with the stroller. We made it work most of the way and for some of the hardest part we had some Mushroom hunters help me carry the stroller. When the sun started to set we turned back and headed back for the best place we had found to watch sunset. It was a great workout (especially when the Mushroom hunters were making noise in the distance still, but not close enough to help on the way out) and a very pretty day.
And we made it back to our Sunset Spot in time. This one and the next 2 are cute ones of the fam waiting/watching the sun going down.
I LOVE when the moon is out during sunsets. The closer together they are and the bigger the moon is the better!! It's back to the condo for the night, then back home the next day.
